MI fue fundado en Enero del 2005 con el propósito de promover y crear un entendimiento común de la lengua Española así como su cultura en la sociedad, además de promover actividades sociales y culturales para aumentar la amistad e interacción entre estudiantes, facultad, y amigos que hablen Español.
Cada semestre la organización se esfuerza por hacer más actividades que sean relacionadas con el lenguaje y cultura del habla hispana. Actividades como lo son el "Piñata Fest”, la cena de "El Día de Muertos", y el buffet "Unidos por el Mismo Sabor".
Desde su inicio en Enero del 2005, UMI se le ha otorgado premios tales como "La Mejor Organización Nueva de Texas Tech" y varios premios de Servicio Comunitario.
What is UMI?
UMI was founded in January of 2005 and its purpose is to promote and create a common understanding of the Spanish language. Also, this organization promotes the Hispanic culture in society and increases friendship and interaction between students, faculty and friends who speak the Spanish language.
Each semester this organization strives to create more activities related to the Spanish language and its Hispanic culture. Some of the activities include the “Pinat Fest”, “El Día de Muertos” dinner and “Unidos por el Mismo Sabor” buffet.
Since UMI’s inception, the organization has received Texas Tech’s “Best New Organization Award” and several community service awards.
