Dean's Council History

In fall of 2009, Dean Jerry Hudson decided he wanted feedback from his students in the College of Mass Communications. He made the faculty aware of his mission, and they helped him form a council of the college's most recognized student leaders. The council is equally representative of the four majors offered in the college: Journalism, Electronic Media and Communications, Public Relations, and Advertising.

Dean's Council Today

The 2011 council is the largest the organization has seen. With so many great candidates in the college, expanding was necessary. Many council members serve in other leadership positions around campus and have completed great internships all over the country. A diverse group of students serve on the council, but all members share a passion for mass communications. Fall 2011 will provide council members the opportunity to meet with mass communications alumni through various events hosted by the college. Next spring, the council is planning to attend a professional conference.
