About Us

          Law Students who participate in ELIG typically seekemployment in the energy industry after graduation. They recognize the recent and future growth occurring in the sector, and the need for competent attorneys to ensure the economic viable of the industry for years to come. ELIG is made up of passionate students, interested in all sectors of the energy industry: oil, natural gas, water, wind, and solar. ELIG actively seeks to keep its members knowledgeable of developments in the energy sector, and to establish a means of networking. 

Mission Statement

• Promote and support ELIG member participation in the law school's Law & Science Certification program
• Facilitate attendance by ELIG members at seminars and symposiums focusing on mineral law topics
• Host presentations and seminars on topics related to mineral law featuring practitioners and other professionals
• Host and promote networking opportunities for ELIG members with practitioners, policy-makers, and other professionals working on mineral law issues
• Encourage mutually beneficial working relationships between faculty, students, and professionals in these areas of law
• Promote awareness of legal, policy, and regulatory issues that affect minerals, natural resources, and the environment, and their legal and social implications
• Enhance the law school experience for students interested in mineral, natural resources, and environmental issues confronting Texas and our world
