Alcohol

Alcohol EDU - All first year freshmen are required to take this online course which educates students about alcohol consumption. In addition, many fraternities and sororities require students to complete Alcohol EDU. For more information contact the Student Health Services, Health Educator.

Raider Assistance Program - This program provides a safe and confidential place for Texas Tech University students to address questions and concerns they have regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. For more information contact Misty Ramon, the Raider Assistance Program Manager.

Student Health Services - Students pay a medical services fee which gives them access to a variety of services at the Student Wellness Center. If you, or someone you believe is suffering from alcohol poisoning dial 911.

Student Legal Services - Student Legal Services provides a number of services for students who pay the student services fee including: consultation, representation, and referrals.

Event Planning

Academic Support and Facilities Resources - Room reservations in academic buildings and outside the Student Union Building are coordinated through this office. Please contact Patricia Cardenas, Unit Coordinator of Events for more information.

Center for Campus Life - Students organizations that need help planning events may contact the Center for Campus Life. Additionally, the Center for Campus Life website offers many resources that can help student organizations plan events. Grounds Use Policy - Registered student organizations can request use of outside space on Texas Tech property. Applications are due weekly to the Center for Campus Life (Student Union Building, Room 201) by noon on Friday. The Outdoor Events Coordinating Committee (OECC) hears all of the requests and is chaired by Mike Gunn.

Office of Risk Management - The Office of Risk Management works to create a community of prevention at Texas Tech. The O.R.M. can answer student questions regarding insurance, liability, and other safety concerns.

Student Union Building (Room Reservations) - To reserve a room in the Student Union Building contact Room Reservations. Rooms reservations are available during regular business hours. In most cases, registered student organizations can reserve rooms in the SUB free of charge. Please contact Belinda Arrendonda in the Student Union Reservation Office regarding room reservations.

Financial

Red to Black - Offers free financial coaching to Texas Tech students during one-one-one consultations and group presentations. Some of the topics covered include creating a budget, saving money, and using credit. Please contact Kristin Culp, Coordinator for Red to Black for more information.

Hazing

Center for Campus Life - Contact the Center for Campus Life to learn about the definition of hazing, and the repercussions of hazing. Additional educational and outreach opportunities to address hazing are conducted by the Center for Campus Life. Please contact CCL for more information regarding hazing.

Student Legal Services - Student legal services may provide legal advice regarding situations of hazing. These licensed attorneys represent students on a number of issues. Please contact Student Legal Services for questions regarding appointments and representation in court.

Student Resolution Center - Provides informal, neutral, and confidential dispute resolution services. The Student Resolution Center operates independently as a supplement to existing administrative or formal grievance procedures, and they have no formal decision making authority. Texas Tech University Police Department - All alleged violation of hazing should be reported to the Texas Tech Police Department if the incident occurs on campus. It is against state law and university policy to haze. Contact the Texas Tech Police Department for more information.

Healthy Relationships/Violence Prevention

Student Counseling Center - Offers outreach presentation for developing healthy relationships. The counseling center also provides the Relationship Enhancement Center (REC) and couples counseling. Contact Dr. Nancy Robinson, staff psychologist in the Student Counseling Center for more information.

Liability

Office of Risk Management - The Officer of Risk Management is a resource that student organizations may consider if they would like to purchase insurance. They are also knowledgeable about liability concerns, and are able to make referrals to local insurance agencies when needed.

Purchasing and Contracting Office - Optional trip insurance is available for purchase through this office. This option is only available if your student organization has a FOP (A Fund, Organization, or Program Account).  If you organization does not have a FOP, contact the Center for Campus Life and we can recommend some local insurance agencies that will meet your needs.

Mental Health

Behavioral Intervention Team - This team is made up of professional across the campus and they address behavior that are disruptive, health and mental safety issues. The team works with students to make sure they are referred to the right resources for them to be better. Contact Senior Administrator Denise Tijerina for more information. Student referrals can be made online through the BIT website.

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer): Suicide Prevention Training - This presentation teaches students, faculty, and staff the signs of suicide, how to approach someone who feels suicidal, and how and where to refer that person for help. Contact Dr. Klint Hobbs, Staff Psychologist and Outreach Coordinator at the Student Counseling Center for more information.

Student Counseling Center - The Student Counseling Center provides individual counseling, couples counseling, and group counseling for students to address mental health. Counselors are also available to help students to help with crisis coverage during normal business hours.

Sexual Assault

Office of Student Conduct - In conjunction with the Texas Tech Police Department publishes the annual Clery Report, which includes all of the Texas Tech campus crime statistics. In addition, if a student is accused of sexual assault, that student could not only face criminal charges but university action against the student as well. Contact the Office of Student Conduct for policies concerning Sexual Assault/Misconduct.

Student Counseling Center - Offers both individual and group counseling for sexual assault victims. They can also help a sexual assault victim figure out their next steps in report a sexual assault. The Student Counseling Center also sponsors the Sexual Assault Awareness Week.

Voice of Hope (formerly the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center) - The mission of the Voice of Hope is to provide victims of sexual assault with support, promote awareness and provide outreach education to the Lubbock community.

Substance/Drug Abuse

Student Counseling Center - The Student Counseling Center provides a number of services including individual, and group counseling for students suffering from substance or drug abuse. Counselors are also available for walk in crisis coverage during normal hours.

Travel

Center for Campus Life - The Center for Campus Life has created a checklist that student organizations can utilize before their trip. The Unit Coordinator will also work with student organizations that have questions or concerns about safety while they are traveling.
