Student Organization's Funding
Provided by theStudent Government Association
Any student organization which is open to all Texas Tech students regardless of race, creed, color, sex, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation or handicap is eligible for funding from the Student Service Fee. The Student Government Association decides on organization funding allocations during the spring semester. Each year in October, letters are sent to registered student organizations from the SGA Budget and Finance Committee with information about schedules for funding meetings and upcoming workshops.
Organizational Funding Procedures
- Pick up a "Funding Process Handbook" from the Texas Tech Student Government Association, Room 301, Student Union Building in October or online at www.sga.ttu.edu.
- Check the status of your organization’s registration and address in the Student Union and Activities, Student Union Building. Organizations must be registered 10 days prior to the funding application deadline. Active groups will receive an authentication stamp by the Center for Campus Life verifying their registered status for the upcoming year. This form must be submitted with the completed budget packets.
- Return the packet to the Student Government Association and sign up for an interview with the Committee on Budget and Finance.
- After budget interviews, the committee on Budget and Finance will begin meeting to develop and draft a complete allocation proposal for all eligible student organizations. The Funding Appropriations Bill will be presented to the Student Senate for their consideration and approval. Once approved by the Student Senate, the Texas Tech Student Government Association President will sign it into law.
- A letter is drafted by the Committee on Budget and Finance Chairperson and mailed to each organization informing them of their allocation and spending priorities for the following fiscal year. An organization's eligibility to receive funding is entirely subject to the current Student Senate Committee on Budget and Finance interpretations of the regulations of the Student Government Association.
